We are now using an online-based permitting system via the web at Oxcart Permit System and will no longer process permits in person or via pdfs.
Any entity wanting to apply for a permit for Sault Ste. Marie must use the Oxcart permitting software.
Registration is easy and can be completed on the Oxcart website under the "Applicant" sign-up link: Oxcart Permit System.
Once registered, companies will be able to reap the following benefits via Oxcart:
- Access a simple to use online interface for requesting local permits.
- Paperless permits downloadable to your computer or any mobile device.
- Eliminate tedious paper processes, emailing and scanning.
- Speed the process of permit approvals.

- Save applicant’s fleet information for faster application submittal

In addition to the Chippewa County Road Commission permitting fee, Oxcart will require a nominal processing fee for each transportation permit. Oxcart will also apply a credit card fee for each permit processed. Applicants will pre-approve their cards for the Oxcart processing fee at the time of application and be charged at the time of approval.
