Zoning Board of Appeals

The Zoning Board of Appeals primarily hears and decides cases where a property owner feels that the strict application of the zoning ordinance causes them an undue hardship. Where the Board finds that an undue hardship exists, they have the authority to relax the zoning ordinance requirements.

The Zoning Board of Appeals also has the ability to interpret unclear portions of the zoning ordinance as well as decide cases where a member of the public wishes to contest a staff-level interpretation of the zoning ordinance.

Meeting Schedule

  • Meetings are scheduled for the third Thursday of each month at 5:30 PM in the Commission Chambers at City Hall. However, they can be cancelled or rescheduled if necessary. The Board meetings are governed by the latest edition of Roberts’ Rules of Order.

Term

  • All members serve three (3) year terms.

Board Members

  • The board consist of seven (7)  members and two (2) alternate members. The members appointed by the City Commission. All members must be City residents.
