Assessing Services
The designated Assessor for the City of Sault Ste. Marie is responsible for administering the property tax laws of the State of Michigan. Each year, the Assessor prepares the Assessment Roll for all non-exempt properties within the City.
Property owners receive a Notice of Assessment each February, which reflects updates to the assessed value of their property.
As part of this process, the Assessor determines the True Cash Value of every taxable property in the City. In accordance with state law, each property is assessed at 50% of its True Cash Value.
