Boards & Commissions

Get Involved: Serve on a City Board, Commission, or Committee

Citizen participation is a vital part of responsive and effective local government. Your City Government relies on the support and input of residents like you to help guide decisions and shape our community’s future.

Serving on a City Board, Commission, or Committee is one of the most meaningful ways you can contribute to your city. These groups are entrusted with important responsibilities that directly impact residents and help ensure our government remains transparent, inclusive, and community-focused.

What We’re Looking For

Nominations are based on a genuine desire to serve the public and help make our city a better place to live. Some boards and commissions may be more technical in nature and require the ability to read and interpret regulations or laws. Regardless of the board, all members must be able to work collaboratively, participate in open meetings, and engage respectfully with fellow members and the public.

How to Apply

To be considered for appointment, interested residents must submit a completed Board and Commission Application to Deputy City Manager Robin Troyer.

Appointments vary by board and are made by:

  • The City Commission

  • The Mayor, with City Commission concurrence

  • The City Manager, with City Commission concurrence

Note: Some appointments may be to fill unexpired terms and could be shorter in duration.

Eligibility

All board, committee, and commission members must be residents of the City.
