The primary responsibility of the Water Treatment Plant is the operation and maintenance of the City’s water treatment facility, raw water pump station, two booster pump stations, and four elevated storage tanks. Plant operators are committed to protecting the safety and health of the community’s drinking water supply through continuous monitoring, testing, and system maintenance.
Laboratory Services
The Sault Ste. Marie Water Treatment Facility houses a State of Michigan–certified laboratory for the analysis of Coliform and E. coli bacteria. The laboratory coordinates with the Chippewa County Health Department for sample collection and analysis.
