The Department is responsible for organizing and directing a multi-function division within the Department of Public Works that includes the Street Department and Parks and Recreation Department. Core responsibilities include the maintenance, repair, cleaning, and snow removal of the City street system, along with the operation and upkeep of surface water drainage infrastructure.
Additional responsibilities include management and maintenance of the City motor pool, parks and recreational facilities, cemetery operations, parking garage and downtown maintenance, water dock operations, and cruise ship dockage and related services. The Department works to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable public infrastructure and amenities for residents and visitors.
