Maple Ridge Cemetery

Maple Ridge Cemetery

Maple Ridge Cemetery originally opened in 1874 and closed in 1901 when it reached capacity. Over the years, many of the burials were removed to Riverside Cemetery or Pine Grove Cemetery, mostly out of the need to widen Ashmun Street.

In 1999, the City took steps to restore the cemetery, and in 2009 it launched a rededication ceremony. Part of the restoration effort included a study to identify as many persons who were buried at Maple Ridge. There are approximately 200-300 burials within the cemetery, and all of the cemetery records are handwritten; those records are being entered into the same computer program as Riverside Cemetery.  For information about Maple Ridge Cemetery, inquire at Riverside Cemetery.
