General Purpose
We are seeking a versatile and dependable Airport Maintenance and Operations Worker to join our team at Sanderson Field. This position plays a key role in both airfield operations and grounds maintenance. Duties include operating heavy equipment, providing line services for aircraft, delivering customer service to pilots and passengers, and performing general airport support tasks. This is a hands-on, outdoor-oriented role that requires strong multitasking abilities and a commitment to safety.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Operate heavy machinery (e.g., mowers, plows, tractors) to maintain airport grounds, including lawn care and snow removal.
- Provide line services such as fueling, towing, and parking aircraft.
- Assist pilots and passengers with ground support and basic terminal needs.
- Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on equipment and runway lighting.
- Maintain accurate records, invoices, and documentation for line services and customer transactions.
- Ensure cleanliness and order of airport facilities and outdoor areas.
- Follow all FAA, TSA, and airport safety regulations and protocols.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with heavy equipment such as snowplows, tractors, or mowers.
- Knowledge of—or willingness to learn—aircraft fueling, towing, and ramp operations.
- Basic mechanical aptitude for troubleshooting and maintaining equipment.
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks.
- Valid driver's license required; additional certifications are a plus.
Physical Requirements
- Regular standing, walking, bending, twisting, squatting, shoveling, lifting, and reaching.
- Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Comfort working in indoor and outdoor environments under varying weather conditions.
- Tolerance for exposure to temperature extremes, loud noise, and physical exertion.
Hours of Operation:
- Varying shift, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Monday through Friday, and 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM on Saturdays and Sundays – Some flexibility on scheduled hours depending on need.
- All employees should arrive no later than five minutes prior to their scheduled shift and ready to work at their scheduled time.
- If the employee needs time off after the schedule has been posted, it is the employee’s responsibility to find suitable staff to cover their scheduled shifts. These changes must be approved by the Airport Manager.
