NOTICE TO BIDDERS

Sealed Bids marked “FIRE HALL RENOVATION- B-18-23” will be accepted at the office of the Purchasing Agent, City Hall, 225 E. Portage Avenue, Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, 49783 until 2:00 P.M. on Friday, July 28, 2023, at which time and place all Bids will be opened and publicly read. The Bid will be for furnishing the following:

Construction work will consist of renovating the current FIRE HALL. The project consists predominately of remodeling 1,332 square feet of dormitory and toilet facilities on the second floor of the SSM Fire Station. The existing toilet room will be demolished and rebuilt as two toilet rooms while the dormitory (“Bunk Room” on the plans) will be remodeled.

Components of the new dormitory will include the ordering and installation of (7) office partition system cubicles to be used as sleep spaces, a new ceiling and lighting, window treatment, a new door, and a new fire pole.

Components of the toilet rooms include new floor and wall tile, a tiled shower with an inset shelf, new plumbing and electrical fixtures, and a stacked washer & dryer. Other items in the base bid include relocating a service sink, adding a decontamination shower on the 1st floor, as well as providing temporary shower/toilet facilities for fire department staff during construction. Adding air-conditioning to most of the 2nd floor is to be bid as an option.

Specifications, bid forms, and additional information may be obtained at the office of the City Clerk at the above address on (June 16, 2023) and on the City’s website. All prospective bidders must register their bid document with the City Clerk in order to receive Addendums if they are issued.

All Bid Proposals shall be submitted in sealed envelopes marked as to the Bidder and the contents therein.

The CITY reserves the right to reject any or all Bids, waive irregularities in any Bid, and make the award in the best interest of the City.
