Frequently Asked Questions

How do I report that a streetlight is out?

To report that a street light is out, call the City Engineering Department at (906) 632-5730 or email apatterson@sault.com

Some street lights are maintained directly by City crews; others are maintained by Cloverland Electric. Either way, once you report it to us, we will take care of any further notifications.

When calling or writing, please include the nearest cross streets to the light you are reporting.  Because sometimes it's a little hard to identify the correct pole during daylight, if you know the numbers from the light pole tag, that's helpful. But if you dont have the tag numbers, that's OK too, we'll send someone to get them.

NOTE: the City is not responsible for the maintenance of private yard lights; those are the responsibility of the homeowner.
